Weekend Off

Ben and I got to play hooky this weekend and head a few states over to our friends Dan and Meghan's wedding in Vermont. We had a great time catching up with old friends, dancing our pants off, and eating way, way too much ice cream. (We were in Ben and Jerry country and Saturday's big activity was to share a Vermonster with 12 or so of our friends. I don't recommend this activity.)

Catching up with friends and enjoying wedding festivities is much easier without two little boys in tow, so my wonderful parents came to watch the boys at our house so we could travel unencumbered. We were pretty happy with our decision to leave the boys behind when it took us four plus hours to get over to Warren Vermont, the last half hour of which was windy mountain dirt roads (note to those traveling to rural Vermont: do not use google maps to find your way). We definitely would have had some whining (heck, I was whining), and most likely some lost lunches too. From Papi's pictures and Ethan's stories, it sure sounds like a good time was had by all back home.
There was swinging...
and pushing Adam around in his little car...
Then Adam got a turn pushing Ethan around (with Papi's help).
My parents have an unusually bad record with Maine weather, but they got lucky this time - gorgeous fall weather and warm temperatures. They even took a trip to the beach...
And Papi was nice enough to loan Ethan his gloves.
It seems like the boys had a ton of fun playing with their Noni and Papi, and Noni and Papi seemed surprisingly energetic and unscathed when we returned home yesterday afternoon. Let's hope that means we can do it again soon...

Ethan looks exactly like you, Liz, in that last picture. Everyone looks like that had a good time! Yay for grandparents!
