This is my kind of summer. Many New Englanders are complaining about the hot and muggy stretch we've had, but I am reveling in every last bit of heat and humidity, trying to store it in my cells for the long winter that will be here before we know it. This is most certainly payback for last summer, when we had maybe ten beach-worthy days, total. This year, it seems, every day is a perfect beach day. And luckily, the boys love the beach almost as much as their mama. They can't get enough of jumping in the waves, collecting seashells (and stinky seaweed), building (Ethan) and knocking down (Adam) sandcastles, wandering on the beach looking for treasures, spotting lobster boats, catching hermit crabs, and eating. Yes, for some reason, the beach brings with it a strong food association for my kiddos, and no matter how many snacks I pack for the beach, they are decimated within minutes of arrival. I guess fun in the sun and surf makes for hungry munchkins.
This past weekend we spent three straight days at the beach - three different beaches, with three different sets of company. The amount of sand that now exists in our car, the boys' beds, and my washing machine is extraordinary. I'm surprised there is any left at the beach, actually. But I don't care - before long, it will be snow and slush we're tracking into the house and we'll wish for some sand between our toes. For now, I'll treasure my time snuggling with my sandy, salty beach bums, warm, happy, and sleepy from the sun.
Our camera isn't very beach-friendly, so I don't have any documentation of our weekend fun. But the wonderful weather also allowed for lots of al fresco dinners, so I'll post some pictures of those instead.
Hooray for summer!

So cute! And I concur - this beach weather is fabulous (although I think you are doing a better job taking advantage of it lately than me!). I can't believe how big the boys look - we need to get together again soon w/ kids so I can see them!
And has anyone told you the baby powder trick for getting sand off the kids before leaving the beach? I don't think I'd be able to deal w/ the beach otherwise.... you know how I feel about dirty cars, houses, etc. :-)
Totally agree- LOVE the weather. And, like you, I think sand castles could be built in our car (and perhaps our bed).
