Thanksgiving in Stamford (or San Diego?)

After a Thanksgiving Eve snowstorm left a messy wintry mix, the weather gods have granted us an unbelievable stretch of springlike weather.  I'm not complaining, but it sure is strange to break a sweat during an al fresco lunch on November 26th.  Anyway, we took advantage of the balmy temps and spent most of our time outside while down at Noni and Papi's for Thanksgiving.  There was lots and lots of combing the beach for sea glass (and there has been lots and lots of rescuing sea glass from the washing machine ever since).
It was even warm enough to dip our tootsies in the water.  Well, warm enough for some at least.

There were new playgrounds to explore....
And monkey bars to master (of course, we couldn't catch the true mastery on video...he really can do the whole thing, I swear!).
And then, of course, the big meal itself.  Cranberry sauce was the far and away favorite with both boys this year.  Dessert at dinner time?  Yes please!

There were uncles and great-uncles to keep us all busy, wound up, and entertained.
After gorging ourselves for two days straight, Mommy and Uncle Pauly turkey trotted through Greenwich on Saturday.  It was such a blast to run our very first race together!

Our littlest (and biggest) fans were there to cheer us on.

Throw in a movie (the boys' second ever in the theater - Arthur Christmas - adorable), several uber-competitive games of Catchphrase, and a Noni who will do all your potty-training child's laundry, and I call that one heck of a Thanksgiving!  Even the car trip down and back was, dare I say, a little bit fun?  Even if we do have mutant children who WILL.NOT.CLOSE.THEIR.EYES.IN.A.CAR.  EVER.  Ten hours.  Not one minute of shut-eye.  Thank god for portable snacks, AquaDoodle, and books on CD.
Note parents' attempt to recreate napping environment with blankies, lovies, and sunglasses to facilitate darkness.  Parents were unsuccessful on all accords.
We came home Saturday afternoon so we could spend Sunday catching up with old friends and re-adjusting to the Maine climate.
No, it was actually quite warm for the light parade and tree lighting on Sunday night.  But never too warm for hot cocoa!

"Fun" is one way to describe the 10 hours in the car. I can think of some others too, but we'll stick with "fun".

Sounds like a car ride with Hannah - although even she might give in after five hours. Such a fun Thanksgiving and I agree w/ Melissa - those matching sweaters are adorable!
