Bunking Brothers

Last night in the toddler bed (11/15/12):
For some reason, saying goodbye to the cheap little toddler bed we bought on craigslist was hard.  Harder, in some ways, than saying goodbye to the crib.  Maybe it's because we're also saying goodbye to the darling crib sheets and the little blankies and the pastel baby themes.  Goodbye to the line of stickers on one side rail, hand-picked and placed with care over the course of a few naptimes.  Goodbye to the last wee-sized thing that still says "baby" in our boys' room.  Onward and upward to a big boy bedroom with its loud primary colors and trucks (soon to be supplemented with an outer space theme - boys' choice) and...

BUNK BEDS!!

I must say that big boys in bunk beds are pretty darling too.
And so, SO excited about their new beds.  We feared that all the excitement might prevent any sleep from being had, so we were pleasantly surprised when we found this, only ten minutes later...
Even though our boys have been sharing a room for six months now, I think each one takes new comfort in knowing his brother is right above/below him.  Tonight they were a little wilder at bedtime and had to be reminded that the toddler bed is still up and that they can be easily separated if needed.  After that, they settled into a whispered game of 20 Questions and fell asleep right in the middle of a round.  I see many, many nights of falling asleep mid-whisper in these lucky boys' futures.

Thanks Noni and Papi for the bunk beds!  As you can see, they are a BIG hit.
