In case you hadn't heard, we had a little bit of snow in these parts this past weekend. I'm not sure of the official total in our backyard, but it was upwards of 30 inches (with Gorham, just a few miles away, seeing the highest snow totals in the state).

Snow dance! |
Nemo brought blustery winds, 36 hours of persistent snowfall, and Ethan's first snow day (Adam's school was closed too, which NEVER happens). We celebrated with pancakes for breakfast, cookie baking, closet organizing, and snuggling up with a movie. There was, of course, quite a bit of fun in the fluffy white stuff betwixt and between all those indoor activities. While not the best snowman-making consistency, the sheer volume of snow, particularly in some of the drifts, transformed our backyard into an instant playground. While the boys built snow tunnels, I went for a snowshoe (read: hardest workout ever in three feet of snow) on the trails behind our house.
Sunday brought clear sunny skies and warmer temperatures, inviting us to get out and play all day long.
After a morning of snowshoeing and fort-building, we visited a nearby sledding hill and had the whole place to ourselves.

And it's a good thing we got all that outdoor exercise, because between the fresh-baked cookies and the hot cocoa on tap all weekend, our boys were all kinds of sugared up.

Cocoa and cookies in our jammies, the uniform for the weekend. It sure is nice having playmates right across the street when you're snowed in! |
Though cabin fever began to set in by Sunday afternoon, being really truly snowed in for a few days, safe in our warm house with nowhere we needed to be, was some seriously fun times.

So fun! I love your boys expressions in the last pic - and the fact that Ethan has his watch on w/ his pj's!
