Almost two months later, I am finally catching up on photos and blogging about all our summer adventures. This set is from our week at the lake towards the end of July. We spent nine days at Stonywood and had a fabulous time. Some of the highlights included:
The Waterford World's Fair.
Skillet throwing competition. Yes, that's me, attempting to throw a cast-iron skillet. |
| | | | |
Grandma was much more successful than I was. She took home the ribbon in her age category. |
Pedal Tractor-Pull. Big hit. Big. |
Adam couldn't pull his tractor nearly as far as his big brother could, but this was far enough to take home the winning ribbon for his weight class (yes, they were weighed...on a scale and everything). |
Not only did both boys win ribbons in their weight classes, but Ethan's name was drawn out of a hat at the end to win his very own pedal tractor! |
We also enjoyed a very cool exhibit aimed at teaching kids how farmers bring food to market. Here they are loading up their tractor sleds with hay to feed the cows. |
Happily-fed cows make... |
Milk! |
This "farm" even had a maple sugaring operation and an apple orchard. |
| | | | |
At the end, the boys were able to trade all of their "crops" in for money, and use that money to buy a treat. So cool! |
I'm not sure of the connection to the Waterford World's Fair, but the boys sure thought this was fun. |
Fishing, fishing, and more fishing.
A decent catch on the very first day. |
These boys could not get ready fast enough for their grandfather/father/son fishing trip! |
Solo hike up Tir'em with Mom.
Solo gardening expedition (to Grandpa's garden) with Dad.
Favorite.picture.ever. |
Canoeing trip down the Saco River.
Family shuffleboard tournaments.
So serious. |
And hot and sweaty. Shuffleboard ain't for the weak. |
Synchronous dock jumping.
Aaaaahhh....summer...take me back!
