Memorial Day Adventures

We spent Memorial Day at the compound for "Opening Weekend". Although Ethan was technically present for last year's opening, this was his first real "work weekend" at the compound, and he sure got into the fun (and trouble). Here are some pics from his busy weekend.

Collecting sticks and branches...

Riding in (and pushing) his wagon...
Sweeping the porch...

Driving Grandpa's fishing boat...

We didn't get pictures of the paint thinner ingestion or the head-first dive into the lake, but I'm sure you can use your imagination...

Ethan's First Haircut

After an increasing number of "How old is she?" or "What's her name?" questions, Ben and I decided it was finally time to trim Ethan's baby locks. For some reason, we were both very attached to his ringlets and resisted cutting them for a long time. But now we love his new haircut and think he looks a lot less like a baby girl and a lot more like a little boy.

BEFORE:
AFTER:
As you can see, Ethan was very sad to lose his hair. Why do babies hate getting their hair cut? He has since recovered and loves his new 'do.

Announcing...

...Baby Boy Stockwell II. Coming mid-October to the Stockwell family. We definitely need an in-utero name for the little bugger, preferably one that doesn't include #2, II, the Second, Ethan's Little Brother, etc. Any suggestions?

Here's Ethan's first photo from August 2006 - any family resemblance? We didn't enter the blogging world until after his birth, so he never got his in-utero shot posted. To prevent future sibling rivalry, alleged favortisim, etc., here's Ethan:

Reading

No, Ethan can't read quite yet, but he sure pretends to. He loves to look at his books and point out the pictures - "ba" for ball (or anything ball-like, really) and "yuna" for cat (all cats, not just our cat Luna). Here he's reading an old classic.

Zzzzzz....

Before we go to bed every night, we look in on Ethan. We love how peaceful he looks when he sleeps, a marked contrast from his high energy, non-stop daytime personality. It's especially fun when we find him in unusual sleeping positions, and this one made us chuckle so much that we had to document and share it.
