Merry Summer Solstice (a few days late!). These are my most favorite days of the year - when I wake to bright skies that remain that way long after the boys are in bed. These are the days I treasure living in Maine, being able to enjoy our garden, the ocean, the local farms, the lakes, the woods, all practically steps from our door. Our days are long and full, so I'll keep my words short and just show you what we've been up to lately.
A few weekends ago...riding the train at Westbrook Together Days
Spending lots of time in our kiddie (or baby, really) pool. We have since upgraded but have yet to try out our bigger pool.
Anyplace becomes a wrestling ring for the Stockwell brothers.
Celebrating Dad
Transforming the swingset into a water park - great idea Grandpa!
Adam's not so sure...
Hiding out from Mom and Dad - the "red room" returns to its playroom roots as the boys have created their own clubhouse under the dining room table
My first CSA bouquet. Since our own garden (usually, knock on wood) provides us with more veggies than we can eat, we haven't been able to participate in our local farm's CSA in past years. But this year they introduced a flower CSA, and we signed right up, entitling us to a bunch of beauties like these every week. I am giddy with excitement to see what sort of lovelies await me tomorrow!
Speaking of the garden...the fun has begun! We've had peas (of both the sugar snap and garden variety), lots and lots of lettuce, Chinese cabbage, and spinach. The cherry tomatoes are on the vine but still green - Ben and I have a little wager on when those will be ripe enough to eat. Everything is growing well and I haven't had to talk Ben off the ledge at any point....yet. Photos of the garden to come (Ben will make sure of it!).
