Lagging behind a few yards and letting the boys take the lead in deciding which trails to take, what to stop and look at, and where and when to eat our lunch made for a fun and relaxing outing. We had just finished our lunch and I began to hurry the boys back to the car so we'd have time for ice cream on the way home when Ethan said, "I just want to sit and look at the ocean for a minute Mommy. It's so boo-tiful." It took a day out of our normal routine (and a wise 4-year old) to remind me that it's okay (and actually quite wonderful) to slow down and have a day with no agenda and no to-do list. It's those random days, where we follow the sunshine and let our moods dictate our plans, that often turn out to be the most memorable.
