A Picture's Worth A Thousand Words

So I went for a run on Sunday, and when I got back, Ben was outside following the boys around with his camera. I thought, "Great! Ben is such a better photographer when it comes to capturing the boys, and they are getting so much harder to capture these days." I could hardly wait to plug the camera into the computer and pull up all the amazing, adorable photos.

Flash forward to tonight. I'm thinking it's been a week since I've posted anything on the blog...what should I write...oh yes! Ben took all those great pictures on Sunday! Let me check those out. I plug the camera in, wait with anticipation as the pictures appear on the screen, and...well, he did in fact take 72 pictures, but only 16 of those are of our boys. The other 56 are of what, you ask? (Actually, you probably didn't need to ask.) The garden!
Oodles of shots of lettuce, and peas, and cabbage, and broccoli, and flowers, and yada yada yada.
I will admit that it's pretty cool that these were just a handful of seeds a month and a half ago. And so were these:
But what I really came looking for were shots of my other little sprouts. The ones that look dramatically different from how they looked around this time last year, the ones that have cute new haircuts and adorable new plaid shorts, the ones who give me hugs and snuggles and one-liners that make me laugh 'til my sides split.
Don't get me wrong - I love watching the garden grow and anticipating all those scrumptious veggies. But these are the pictures that help freeze time as it flies by at what sometimes seems like warp speed. These are the pictures that will stir memories of warm spring days when the boys were young. These are the pictures I cherish.
