School's Out for Summer

Although the boys are in year-round daycare, sometime around the middle of June, "school" turns into "camp". What makes camp so different from school? Camp brings with it theme weeks, swim days, field trips, dress-up days, arts and crafts - basically something unique and special and fun every single day from now until the end of August. I have to admit that Ben and I both get a little green with envy when we peruse the boys' summer calendars - we want to go to summer camp!!

But before the boys could officially kick off all the summer fun last week, there were of course the end-of-year activities. There was a big birthday celebration for all the friends with summer birthdays who weren't attending summer camp. The boys got to make and decorate cupcakes, and everyone wore birthday crowns all day long.
Here's the "birthday boy" ready to do some post-dinner clean-up

Then there was the annual Kindergym recital. We'll spare you the video this year, since it is pretty much a duplicate of last year's, and the year before's, except that the boys are one year bigger and maybe (?) a little more cooperative.
It was adorable and hilarious as always to watch the munchkins dance around like fishes and octopuses, climb through obstacle courses, and shake their pom poms. Ethan and Adam were in the same class this year, which I think they enjoyed. The differences in their personalities certainly came out during the performance, with Ethan being incredibly serious and nervous about the whole undertaking and Adam assuming the role of head ham.

Thursday was also "spa day", complete with manicures, hairstyling, yoga, etc. Ethan came home with pink fingers...
and Adam came home with a mohawk.
What's in store for this week? Tye-dying t-shirts, red/white/blue day, and a field trip to the Gray Animal Park!
