The birthday boy had a grand day on Friday, so grand, in fact, that he sobbed when it was over - big, heaving sobs at the prospect of saying goodbye to October 26th at bedtime. Not even the prospect of his birthday party next weekend stopped his tears - only promises that there would indeed be another October 26th next year could console him. He had been so focused for so long on turning four that when it actually came and went, it was hard for him to recover. Still, the smiles all day more than made up for the tears at night. He was one happy newly four-year old!
