Clowning Around

We are all tuckered out after a weekend jam-packed with fun, sugar, and screwed up sleep schedules (anyone else hate daylight savings time?  anyone?).  More on Adam's birthday party later, but first things first - Halloween.  Scarborough decided early into Superstorm Sandy to postpone Halloween until Saturday.  Since we didn't end up having much damage, or even losing power, it seemed a little silly not to trick-or-treat on Wednesday, but there is something to be said for a weekend Halloween and not having to scramble to go out after work and school.  The clown costumes ended up being pretty cute after all, and I wasn't scared of my own kids.  They made perfect clowns, and in the end, I decided it fit their personalities quite well.  We went out trick-or-treating with a pack of neighborhood kids and the boys enjoyed SPRINTING from house to house.  Adam made it to half a dozen houses or so before calling it quits; Ethan could have gone all night but was also okay with me suggesting that we head home after an hour or so.  His loot bag is quite enormous but I think (hope) he's already forgotten about it.  It's amazing how sneaking the stash out of sight helps erase it from little minds.  Now if I could just erase it from my mind!
Decorating bagels after school on Halloween.  We had to do something Halloween-ey on the actual day!

This one wasn't a big fan of the whole face-painting thing, but loved his rainbow wig and honking nose.
This one loved getting his face painted so I was much happier with how it turned out.
Matching clown costumes in the right sizes at a consignment store?
My lucky day!  (once I got past my immediate reaction to the clown idea)
Not sure what it is about the clown costume that makes Ethan think he must strike this pose, but he was doing it all night.
One wig, two wigs, everyone must wear blue wigs!  (We forgot to get a picture of Daddy in his!)
I love this one because it fully illustrates the wig-to-body ratio on our little guy.  This was at least partially responsible for multiple clown-down moments and his early retirement.

And because kids can't have all the Halloween fun...here's Ben and I at a Halloween party last weekend, where we dressed as Fifty Shades of Grey.

A belated Happy Halloween!  Remember how I related this holiday to hell a few weeks back?  Well I take that back - I do love Halloween... all of it.
