Enough Already!

At least twice a week, Ben and I have a conversation that goes something like this:

Liz: Did you check out the blog? I put up a new post.
Ben: No. Is it about the garden?
Liz: No, it is about our adorable children and their antics.
Ben: Sigh. Oh. I'll check it out later.

OK, that's probably a bit exaggerated for effect, but you get my drift. Ben has always been a very proud daddy, but he is also a very proud farmer. So to humor him (and get him off my back), some pictures of his beloved garden, which is admittedly quite impressive, in my opinion.

And the yummy food we have enjoyed, thanks to Farmer Ben and his apprentice Ethan:
And to take just a little credit, someone does have to turn all these veggies into delicious meals...
Please feel free to add "oooooos" and "aaaahhhhs" to the comment section. In addition to being Mr. I-Don't-Do-Anything-Halfway, Ben is also Mr. I-Love-Validation-and-Praise. All joking aside, I am proud of our little garden and my dedicated farmer. We've weathered tornadoes, possible blight, cucumber beetles, cutworms, mysterious wilting diseases, and periods of drought, and have still managed to have successful crops. Gardening gives me tremendous respect for farmers who actually try to do this for a living. But it sure is rewarding to plant a seed, nurture it, watch it grow, and then reap the benefits. Kind of like parenthood!

Well said Liz! We get to reap the benefits of Breck Owen's garden and enjoy it every week! Although I think you are more creative with your cooking than me -- what time is dinner?

What amazing garden! Fresh veggies really are the best - and it looks like you've had some wonderful dinners. Great job!
